Sunshine (God’s natural therapy)

Do people in warm states get sad? Because SUNSHINE brightens my spirits every time. When the light from the sun kisses my skin, I glow from the inside out. It is hard to be upset when the sun is shining on me like my own personal ring light.

I used to hate the heat. As I get older I yearn for it. It seems like our winters are longer and the days are gloomier. So when the sun is shining, I am beaming from ear to ear.

This past weekend I had planned out a trip to Chicago, filled with family, fun, and sun. I got a brief taste of all three, but cut my trip short. I put my sunglasses and music on and drove home, glowing in the sunlight.

The balance of the long weekend was amazing. I sat in the sun and enjoyed the sunny days. I danced, laughed, and celebrated my friends. I got to see my college roomie…and that is always an adventure! (IYKYK) But mostly, I smiled through my disappointment of missing my nephew’s basketball tournament (in which his team won - my family is full of basketball champs).

At home dialysis almost took me out. The machine broke (for the hundredth time) I had do an alternative treatment plan and everything kept alarming out. DT told me to calm down and suggested we go for a ride. PERFECT. Once again, I donned my sunglasses and headed out into the sun. We rode for a few hours then came back to fight the dialysis machine! We didn’t finish treatment until 2 a.m. BUT I woke up to the sun shining through my windows. Who needs sleep when you have sun?

I still kind of kick myself for turning down a job in Arizona a few years ago…I often wonder if the sunshine would have cured DT and lifted our spirits?

Anyway, have a wonderful day. May the sun shine on you :)
