Phone calls

Last week I reached out to a couple of my husband's family members just touching base with them. My husband wasn't available to talk initially, so they called back later this week.

The calls went like this:

Family: Hello, hey (nephew/brother/cousin) DT. How are you?

DT: Aww, man, I'm dying.

Family: 😳 man don't say that.

Him: shit I am

Me: LOL - I'm keeping him around

People don't understand, he isn't saying this to get sympathy or pity. He is serious. He is preparing everyone. He isn't afraid of death. He says he is tired most days, but he is holding on and fighting for me and the kids. He wants to make sure we are okay.

We aren't. He's dying. You can't ever be okay with that. He has a list in his mind that he wants us to have together. This results in a lot of frustrations on both of our ends. I'm fighting for him to live, he's fighting for me to get my life together (impossible😂)

However, we are okay with discussing death. We talk about it everyday. So when he gets a call, he has no hesitation talking about death. I always try to remind him that it makes people uncomfortable. I want to disclaimer this to anyone that calls. If you ask him how he is doing, he is going to tell you he is dying. Prepare yourself accordingly.💜
